Anyone.. I am a geared lifter (2410@308) ;D.. but I am training for a raw contest ,.. The problem I have is, I cannot access the rules from the PDF files here at the school where I teach. I understand the performance rules of powerlifting, but my question is, are wrist wraps allowed in this federation and also what type of belt is allowed. I know these are dumb questions, but I usually lift in the APF... and I want to compete in some 100% RAW meets. Thank you Aaron Lawrence MBA

Hey, Aaron. I looked up the rules so you wouldn't have to worry about trying to download the pdf file from a link. Seems like that's the problem already.....
The belt: leather, single or multi ply, but with no additional support or padding. Any style buckle is okay.
The wrist wraps: (this is a copy/paste) Lifting Attire 1) Singlet: For local, state and national and international championships. Note: In RAW meets only a leather belt may be worn with a non-supportive singlet. No other supportive gear may be worn. This includes, but is not limited to, wrist wraps, knee wraps, tape applied around a limb or finger, supportive lifting suit, supportive briefs, supportive shirt.
Hope this helps! Looking forward to seeing your name on the results page!

Doug.. Thanks for the reply.... Duckies, PDF files, they re-formatted our network and everything is a mess.. Ya, raw meet will be a new thing... I'm really looking foward to it.. I accomplished my main goal.. hitting 2400 geared back in July, 14 years to accomplish... But now it is time for some new goals.. I would love to hit 2100 raw one day.... but who knows... going to give it a shot, if my body will hold together.... It is going to take some time and different training for my joints and tendons to catch up with my muscles.. May never get their but going to give it a shot.... Thanks again for your help.... Wow! That is one heck of a total!
I saw Nick Minetti total 2025 raw at one of John Shifflet's meets a couple of years ago, and his assisted total last year was 2190.....USAPL gear..... There is a very reasonable chance you can hit your goal! I wouldn't mind seeing you post your workout totals or new PR totals as you progress raw!
God Bless. Doug P.

Hey Doug, Was this 2025 he done in John's meet done at a national meet or state meet? What weight class was he in? I know Beau Moore will be lifting with us at this World powerlifting Championships and he wants to do 2100lb total and be tested. We beleive this will be the all-time highest Drug Free RAW total ever lifted. Have you ever heard of a higher total RAW?

Hey, Paul. This was the Nationals that John held up in Stanardsville about 1-2 years ago. It was the really small meet that had so many records set. I believe Nick weighed in around 318-ish, and also insisted on taking the whiz quiz.
I've never even heard rumors of a RAW total higher than that. I can't wait to see Beau make a go at it, and if the record's gonna fall, Beau just might be the man to do it!
See you soon.
God Bless, Doug P.

Thanks Doug, Beau Moore is set to come and tear up the RAW Plattform. I would love to see Aaron lift at this same meet. The meet will take place sometime in early February or early January. We are waiting to hear back from the venue we are trying to rent.
Aaron where do you live? And are you going to come and compete with us this year? I would love to see you at the World bench meet on Nov 19 and the World full power meet. Let me know what you think.

Paul, I'm confused about the weight classes after viewing the American and World bench records. The American records page lists 275, 308, and SHW (pretty standard), while the World records page lists 275, 308, and 319+ (omitting those 309-318). I'm going to enter the Holiday Cash Bench Bash in Chicago and Shawn lists 275, 319, and SHW (like the WABDL).
NASA changed from 308 to 319 and the USAPL eliminated 319 to comply with the IPF. Any light you shed on the 100% Raw, 'discrepancies' will be appreciated.

Paul Bossi and Shawn Lyte - about my previous post - I'm honestly interested in a clarification. If you ignore me, I'll get a complex.

Jimray, To answer your question about the weight classes. He is the deal, we dropped the 319 class and added the 308 class instead. Anyone over 308 is in the SHW. THE REASON FOR THIS IS TO BE MORE CONFORMED TO OTHER FEDERATIONS. Ever other federation has a 308 and then shw and for some reason we had a 319 class that no other federation had. When lifters get ranked in the PLUSA top 100 there was no 319 class and we felt it was important for our lifters to get their recognition they deserved. I hope this helps clear things up for you. After I went through our records all of the records were done by lifters weighing under 308 so it does not effect anyone either. Take care and hope to see you lift with us soon on the platform.

Thanks guys. I'm lifting in OKC this weekend (NASA Unequipped Nats). If I don't get hurt, I'll enter the HCBB upon my return.

Jimray, are you the same Jimray from the CPOA forum? (Mike Lovelace/Shane Gaydon's?)

Yes. I'm also known as JRay on the MM forum, and Jim Ray on the NASA and GoHeavy forums. See the pattern?
