O.k. Pretty excited about this. This past week, picked up a mastiff super yoke, farmers implements, steel log (training) and a sled. Loaded the farmers up and man that was heavy. Put some 45s on the sled and had my son sit on it and dragged him several times down my street. That was one of the hardest and most painful things I've ever done. Can't wait for the next workout. Also, can't wait to take the yoke down the road. Lots of fun! Any hints or ideas on a strongman workout or should I throw 1 or 2 in a week in addition to powerlifting.

Aaron, When I was in my heyday of training/competing in strongman, I would do gym workouts 3 days a week and events 1 day a week. It is VERY easy to overtrain when doing strongman. Almost every event is a full body movement. I would typically do Chest/Bis on Sun., Back on Mon.(this would allow for plenty of recovery for Friday's events), Legs on Wed. and Events on Fridays.
Go to Marunde-Muscle and KCStrongman and get on the forums and check out the training journals. You will get alot of helpful info out of there.

Thanks DJ for the info...I will research them. I also have to find out when to incorporate my grip training, have several "blob" type dumbell heads up to 40 lb heads and just bought a hammer-strength gripper machine, but I don't think anything will work my grip better than the farmers walk, those things are killers. Yes, you can do many things with farmers. Farmer walks with heavy weight, walks with lighter weight for longer runs, farmers picks(like a farmers deadlift). I have the std. handles and then some oxygen cylinders with 1 3/4" handles.
