It what was just his 5th NAS contest the 6 foot and 310 pounds Weech ended up atop the podium. But, Weech is no stranger to podium finishes; he has two WPC Junior World Championships under his belt, a RAW powerlifting World Championship and an 828.5 # raw squat world record. "Not only is this kid strong, but he can move, "said ASC VP Mike Johnston. "Scott ran with the 950# yoke and easily finished a very tough deadlift medley. In what was easily the most stacked field of amateur competitors this year, the "strongest" did survive."
Weech lives in Florida with his wife who is expecting their first child. He is an entrepreneur involved in a start-up, family owned electrical contracting business. Weech cut his teeth on the NAS Florida strongman scene, which has now produced five HW ASC Pros. He has spent the last year rehabilitating a biceps injury and preparing for the Carolina Strongman Classic and a chance to win his ASC Pro status. "I know that I am relatively new to the sport, and I am excited to compete against the best that American Strongman has to offer. I am confident that my strength will measure up. I have some technique to work on, but I will be ready for St. Pat’s. I will be training very hard. All the other ASC pros had better be training hard too." - Staff at ASC (American Strongman Corportation)
An interview with Scott, regarding his training and Strongman Pro Card should appear in October's PLUSA. I'll keep everyone posted.
Congratulations Scott, you really are showing that RAW means Power!
