Do most people use the close grip or wide grip?
Is there a special e-z curl bar used?
What is used to lean against? Wall or post. Wondering about shoulder position.

Wouldn't the plates hit the wall with arms extended?

It is up against the wall but normally a part of the wall that juts out several inches where a structural column might be. You can take either a narrow or wide grip, it is on an EZ bar. You should do which you are more comfortable and stronger on, I would say most bigger people like a wider grip but it does vary. Wide is more common overall IMO. You put your legs out in front of you significantly, as John said keep upper back and butt against the wall and go at it. Most people lose about 15-30 lbs on this type of curl compared to the standing strict curl as you can't swing even a little bit. Hope that helps, Tim
