First of all, congratulations to Ricco and the Final Fitness Gym . I will not go much into the results of the meet, I will let the meet director do that. The gym is located in Harahan and had 8 lifting platforms. It was nice to see New Orleans back up and running. After referring at the meet, we had some time in the Quarter and on Sunday was able to catch a Saints game. The city was cleaner than I have ever seen it and I have lived there twice. The trophies and t-shirts that Paul sent over were outstanding. Doc and I last saw each other 22 years ago. I weighed 132 and he lifted 165, I am now 181 and I will let him tell you what he weighs...... lol. Doc is building his organization there from the ground up, a lot of good high school lifters. There was a 10 year old female lifter that weighed 51 pounds, a triple body weight squat by an open lifter and some pretty good bench pressing. The right side spotter was a 6' 6", 300+ pound offensive lineman from Tulane, he had a good workout that day, as he loaded the entire meet.
Doc plans to hold 3 or 4 meets a year
Doc recruits through the high schools. Louisiana uses the bench, squat and deadlift in their high school meets. I hope to see Doc and some of the lifters at our meet in Plano, texas in April.
