Thank you gentlemen for the comments and the encouragement.
Now, please allow me to explain my motivation in this sport. I began this sport for the personal challenge and I continue to this day for the personal challenge. I do not train to compete. However, I do enjoy the comraderie and friendly competition of a good meet. I will compete when a meet is convenient to/for me and I try to compete when I am asked to by a meet director. I only enjoy being at the level I am in this sport thru the grace of God and the patience to accept small gains over many years. Believe it or not, my biggest thrill in this sport is watching one of my trainees earn a victory.
Dopar, my daughter says it is impossible to embarrass me. That is a good thing with you around.

Very, very respectable. Not sure if I could be that humble with your level of strength. I'd put those lifts on display non-stop ;D.

Okaaaay, I competed in the Ironman Nationals this weekend. I figured an Ironman would be fairly easy compared to a full power meet. After all, I do all three lifts together on a regular basis now. Boy, was I wrong. I am more beat up this morning than I have ever been after a meet. I don't know if I just underestimated the Ironman, the fact that I have been sick for 2 weeks (smart move not competing after being sick, Abe), or I am just getting too old for this. It was a great meet. I had the pleasure of seeing a lot of tremendous lifting...a LOT. There were records of every level falling all over the place. The only thing falling more than records was the snow. I hate to single anyone out because of the incredible displays on strength that were put on but I have to say this. I had the pleasure of watching John and Keri Self lift. Both of them are quite, unassuming COMPETITORS who let their lifting do their talking for them. I had a lot of fun at the meet and met a lot of very friendly, very strong people. Kudos to John Shifflett for a great meet.

I mislead you somewhere. I opened with 525, went 550 on my second and passed on my 3rd because of my back.

Thank you gentlemen. It was I who was impressed at this meet. There was some incredible lifting there. Watching a 181 play with 400 on the bench is humbling indeed.

I was glad to read he hit that 400. Can't remember if he had it in a meet before or not, but I know he's worked for it! Thank the LORD he is a nice guy!
:')
God Bless.
