I had to take time off to rest shoulder joints. I am creating my training plan for next year. I will be 65 yrs old for my next meet. My question is what master class will I be? Will I be a level lll, IV or V? I want to qualify as an elite powerlifter. I have not done a full meet in 6 years due to double hernia surgery. Thanks Gus.

They would compete against each other in the open class. However, it's also possible (depending on the requirements of the specific meet) for them to compete in age divisions within the weight class also; 20-23 Junior, 35-39 Submaster, 40+ Master (usually in 5 lb increments like 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, etc....)

Gus, Glad your coming back to the sport with some great goals. I just wanted to clarify some of the terminology being used now in the sport and how you'll be able to fit in without a hitch. You will compete as a Master V This will be your Division. Next choose a weight class. Compete and try to win your weight class & division. In Regards to Qualifying as an Elite LifterThe Total you lift at a sanctioned meet, will be compared to the RAW Classification Standards Chart, based on your weight class. Your Age has nothing to do with being considered an Elite RAW Powerlifter. Total Elite - Young or Old...The RAW Classifications don't care. It's that simple. The RAW Classifications have been adopted by all RAW Federations...and should be adopted by all Federations Sanctioning RAW Powerlifting Meets by the end of this year. Now when you say you've Totaled Elite...there is a consistent adopted standard, for all in our sport to know what you mean. To learn more about the RAW Classification Standards...
