I'm not too terribly prone to using the high caffeine content energy drinks, but I've had a little run in with sleep deprivation lately. So this morning I stopped and got one.
Any of yall seen "Over the Hedge" yet? If you have not, rent that thing and fast forward to the part where the squirrel drinks the energy drink. THAT scene will give you an idea of what the drink did to my workout this morning. Good Grief!
Anxiously awaiting the crash.....
God Bless!

Musta missed this thread somewhere...
I love that part from over the hedge...the squirrel is FTL. :-)
I tend to avoid packaged energy drinks...too much caffeine gives me the jitters.
I like the Trac-NO stuff, other than the taste, it works good as an energy booster.

I do like some energy drinks, like SOBE no fear, sugar free, especially after workout, man I do feel great after that.
BTW, I am new guy over here, so I wanted to say hi to all of you guys/girls on this forum.

I've been using Cytomax for about a year or so. It's not really a caffeine-based drink, but has a little caffeine in it. It's not a simple carb energy drink, but has a few simple carbs in it. The thing I like the most about it is it has a lactic acid blocker in it. THAT is design genius!
:')
It does NOT get you pumped, psyched, hyped, ready to kill, or anything like that. Instead, what you get is the sensation that, rather than "If I do one more set I will die", you get the sensation that "If I do one more set, I will certainly NOT die." Other than that, the lactic acid blocker is the greatest benefit for me.
Dino, I haven't found one yet that I liked the taste of either. My pre-workout energy drink is a Mt. Dew if anything. (Sugar, water, caffeine, it's the perfect drink.....) However, I've greatly cut back on my Mt. Dew intake and am now at 174 pounds bodyweight as a side benefit.
God Bless!

For flavor I really like Rockstar Pomogranate. It has a very distinct flavor, similar to Rockstar's guava which i think is too sweet. Either way both do a good job of breaking the enrgy drink flavor mold of tasting like garlic and fruit punch. (Like that overpriced NOS concoction). I find the Vitamin B and Taurine war these energy companies promote to be just as interesting as the caffiene one. All the research I have done on B Vitamins will state the benefits but reinforce the theory that you only need so much and that the rest goes down the toilet (About 1.3mg). Most of what I have read states that unless there is a defenciency there really is no benefit in extra vitamin supplementation. Taurine studies were entertaining, it's made from bull vile and helps cats. Wikipedia sums up taurine as bought as good as everything I looked at, which leads me to believe it's still in the dark as far as research goes. I couldn't find anything claiming how much is either enough or not enough. Regardless, I read enough to realize an energy drink looks like a healthy way to go until you mix in the sugar soup. Theres thousands of sites, heres a few that may not even be that good, but what the heck. i shouldn't be allowed to drink energy drinks because of how crazy I get on them. I'm a monster junkie. I love them just before and during my workouts because I just go bat Shoot crazy. I eat really really clean and don't take in alot of caffiene or anything beyond good foods and shakes. So whenever I do get into any sort of stimulant...i go bananas! And when going low/no carb it hits you even harder.
