Hey zimbo, thanks for asking. Training was going well until I came down with flu. Good thing was my weight dropped to 213#. Bad thing I did not get to gym for 10 days. Last workout before getting sick I managed 355# for 3 sets of 3. First workout after being sick I only could manage 360 for sets of 2

Been under the weather so I have not really been able to hit the gym. Did my first full workout in over ten days on this past Sunday
Bench 45x25 135x12 185x10 225x6 paused 265x6 paused 295x5 paused 320x6 320x6 320x6 320x6
Close grip 225x7 paused 275x5 Paused 295x3 paused
Tricep pushdowns 100x10 110x10 120x8
Seated rows 135x12 150x10 180x8
Preacher curls 70x10 80x10 90x7 70x10
All in all a good workout for me. Having trouble with shoulder pain bt I will just try to muddle through until after the Word Championship. Good thing my bodyweight is 214# so making weight won't be an issue.

Having terrible pain in both shoulders which subsides as I go deeper into my routine. After I compete in the World Championship I will take some time off and start a rehab type workout.
Bench 45x25 135x12 185x10 225x6 paused 275x4 paused 295x4 paused 315x3 paused 335x3 T&G 355x1 paused 365x1 T&G 375x1 T&G 335x3 paused
Close Grip 225x7paused 275x5 paused 295x4 paused
seatede rows 135x10 165x10 180x7
Once I get up to 335 the pain is bearable. Felt no pain with 355 on up.

Just back from Vegas. I was actually pleased with my results because of shoulder issues .Opened with a low 341# just bto get on the board and I blew it up off the bottom. Then went 358 and 374 I was 3 for 3 with all white lights. I had planned on doing 402 but with the shoulder problems I am very pleased with results. It was a great competition and I was able to witness some great lifts.

Good job Buckeye, a lot of guys wouldn't have even competed because of shoulder issues but I believe you did the right thing.

Took some needed time off after competing at the World Championships. This workout is from Saturday and I kept the weights real light.
Decline bench 45x25 135x12 185x6 225x6 275x5 295x5
Close grip bench 225x6 265x6 285x6 295x6
Tricep pushdowns 90x8 100x8 110x8
Lat pulldowns 120x8 135x8 150x10
Seated rows 135x10 150x10 165x8
Preacher curls 60x10 70x10 80x7 70x10
Crunches 3x30
Just a good light workout for me with no shoulder pain. Moved my grip in on all pressing movements to help take stress off of joints and it seemed to work.

Looking good man. It's funny that you're bringing your grip in to relieve pressure on the shoulder...and that's normally what one does. I'm finding, with my shoulder, moving out is actually relieving pressure. Go figure.
I've had similar issues with shoulder workout pain in the past like you describe.
Basically, I ramped up the shoulder prehab and warm-ups to get blood flowing in the joints. Taking more time to do both helped over a period of weeks.

Sorry for not responding sooner. I have been very busy and working overtime to help with the holidays and took 5 days to go back to Ohio. I lifted in the 220# weight class in Vegas. I just found out that I was the overall Master's champion in the bench only. Just received my Worl Champion belt via UPS on Friday Nov 16th.

Finally getting back to the gym. Lifting has taken a back seat recently.
Bench 45x25 135x12 185x10 225x7 paused 275x3 paused 295x3 paused 315x3 last rep paused 335x3 335x3 280x6 paused

Seated rows 135x10 160x8 160x8 180x5
Preacher curls 70x10 80x8 90x6 70x10
I have brought my grips in very on all pressing movements to take stress off of shoulders. Seems to be working as I feel no pain but am using very light weights for now.

Took some time off because of obligations and coming down with the flue. Just trying to come back slow. I have a competition on January 21st in Richmond Va. It will be my last meet as a 55-59 year old. Turn 60 in May and hope to set new World Record bench in 220# 60-64 yo at the American challenge.
