Speed Work.
1. Box Squat (18” box) with Strong Band (45 sec rest): 135x1 225x1 315x1 365x2, 6 sets
2. SLDL on 3” block with 100# of chain (45 sec rest): 315x2, 6 sets
Didn’t have much time today so had to stop here. Set-up and tear-down when training alone takes a lot of time, especially when working with bands and chains.

Your speed work (counting bands) is heavier than my heavy days....... That is a ridiculously excellent quick/short workout Hammer!
God BLess.

BW = 250
Heavy Day
1. Squat: 315x3 405x1 485x1 (belt) 555x3 (belt) 555x3 (belt)
2. Half Squat to pin and up – getting a feel for heavier weight (belt for all): 635x1 675x1
3. Bench – Pauses: 225x3 325x1 395x2……stopped there. My left shoulder/pec area wasn’t feeling 100% and I’m too close to the meet for an injury. I will not do any presses again until next Monday.
4. Deadlift: 405x1 495x1 (belt) 555x3 (belt)…..very nice reps

Okay dogonnit, you just did a powerlifting meet for a workout......
OUTSTANDING workout Hammer!
I certainly hope you're icing the heck out of that shoulder/pec. Last time I saw you lift it was awe-inspiring, and it was GOOD TO ME to see you do it on the same platform as Weech and Moore. I would be tickled beyond description to see you post a slew of new PRs from the meet!
God Bless!

Intended to be a speed day for squats and Deadlifts but I got curious about ultra-wide squats and wanted to see if I could get proper depth…………………
1. Squats: Ultra-Wide Stance 225x4 315x2 405x2 495x2 585x1 585x1…….video taped and reviewed after every set……..not deep enough.
Normal Stance 585x1…….I appear to go a little too deep which leads me to loosen up coming out of the hole so I decided to cut the next set a little higher. 585x1…….looks good on video…….3 white lights!! 585x2…….I hope I’m looking at the depth right on video because it is keeping me from loosening up in the bottom……..very interesting……
Decided to stop there. Totally missed the speed work but I think it was worth it tonight to get my form better.

I have the same problem in trying to judge my own squats and always seem high if noones calling my depth when video'ed. I have seen guys who lifted solo in college connect bungie cords to the rack to hit at parallel.

Last training session before meet next Saturday. Planning to go with heavier openers than the last 2 meets. Hope it doesn't bite me in the but.
1. Squat: 315x3 425x1 525x1 (belt) 605x1 (belt)........this is the Squat opener.
2. Bench (pauses): 225x3 345x1 405x1........this is the Bench opener.
I did not deadlift because I feel I am fully ready for that event and I'm too close to be going that heavy.
Now I need to focus on cutting my weight like the last meet. I believe I will be starting tomorrow morning at 251.5 and I will begin drinking 1-2 gal of water/day for the next 4 days.

Nice work!
I'm assuming you're cutting for 242...so this should be a breeze!
Good luck man!

Nice work! I'm assuming you're cutting for 242...so this should be a breeze! Good luck man! Thanks TP. Yeap - I am heading for 242 and using the same template you laid out for me back in October. It worked well and I know what to expect this time around.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. This should be a good meet for me. My squat is still a little off from where I was when I weighed 270 and my bench is about 25-30lbs weaker. However, my deadlift has improved and I think everything is starting to move up again.
Looking forward to a great weekend.

Best of luck Nick. You've certainly done the work, so end this year with a World title. (I have a feeling the 242 class is going to get interesting next year...)
