Sunday 6/10/07
Thanks guys.
The lazy days of summer are starting to get to me.....or is it the heat? Either way, I had to get motivated just to go to the gym today. I'm glad I did.
Squat
135 x 10 135 x 5 225 x 8 315 x 3 365 x 2 420 x 1 475 x 1 500 x 1 525 x 1 475 x 1 500 x 1 525 x 1
Bench <--- All reps after 205 were paused.
135 x 10 135 x 5 205 x 8 230 x 6 260 x 4 285 x 3 295 x 2 305 x 1 260 x 4
Did a few sets of heavy standing crunches and called it a day - no deads today.

Nice work 3speed! Some wicked work on the squats and nice pause bench work. What's the idea behind the drop set to 475 then working back up? Having done walkouts today with 500 and thinking, man this is pretty heavy, I tip my hat.

Doug, You remember your comment about the 2nd or 3rd set being easier? I find the same thing to be true for me. This is the start of a few mini waves and I hope that I can handle more weight for my top set every few weeks this way.
Experimenting.........we'll see how it goes.

3Speed, I just haven't figured out how to work that into a meet yet..... go for an opener, go in the warmup room and do it again? Who knows...... strange phenomenon that one........
Side note, that bench warmup we talked about, I've started doing it your way instead of mine. I'll let you know how it goes in two weeks.
God Bless!

Sunday 6/17/07
Happy Father's Day to all!!
Squat
135 x 10 135 x 5 225 x 7 315 x 3 365 x 2 425 x 1 475 x 1 500 x 1 525 x 1 475 x 1 500 x 1 545 x 1...PR
Bench <----All reps after 135 were paused.
135 x 10 135 x 5 225 x 8 240 x 6 270 x 4 290 x 3 300 x 2 310 x 1 275 x 4
Deadlift <---Done with 35 pound plates.
185 x 5 255 x 3 325 x 3 325 x 3 325 x 3
Power Cleans
185 x 3 185 x 3 185 x 3
Waves on the squat seems to be working. The 545 was very smooth.....had plenty left. It feels good when everything starts to come together. I just hope it's not happening too soon.

Wow! I have to pick my jaw off the floor on that one. Congrats on the PR - and you had plenty left! Your squatting and overall work is hardcore. I don’t know anybody who could hang with that workout. I would have been weeping like a baby come power cleans! Man, your STRONG!

Had to share. Some days I really enjoy my job. I was putting along I40 thru Greensboro, NC today when a Lexus pulled along side and blew the horn at me. With the luck I've had lately, I figured someone was trying to get my attention to let me know I had another flat tire. I looked over/down and the driver was a very nice looking blond wearing only a pair of shorts. Man, I would love to shake her doctor's hand. Those things should come with a warning label about eye protection.

Chancey: I didn't think about that ....been a long time since I've seen that movie. Joebear: No worry in that department. I didn't stray when I was 12000 miles away from home in countries where pleasure is king - I ain't about to start here at home. Sunday 6/24/07 Squat135 x 10 135 x 5 225 x 8 315 x 3 365 x 2 415 x 1 Bench135 x 10 135 x 5 225 x 8 All reps paused from here on. 245 x 6 275 x 4 295 x 3 305 x 2 <---Hardest set I have done in a long time. 315 x 1 275 x 4 Deadlift135 x 8 225 x 7 315 x 3 405 x 2 455 x 1 495 x 1 545 x 1 495 x 1 565 x 1 I designed my squat cycle with a built in deload every 3rd week. The way last week felt, I wasn't too sure I would need it. I stuck with the plan today and I am sure am glad this was a deload week. I rarely get sore from my workouts anymore but this bench routine is leaving me sore every week. It's good to feel something from the work. I haven't pulled a full ROM normal dead in several weeks. I have been concentrating on the different pieces of the movement. I put it all together today and was pleasantly surprised. Now, if I can just pull together all I've learned from experimenting these last few cycles.

Geat numbers on the DL.
I'll be looking through you past workout so see how you've broken the DL up. What you did looks like it worked real well.

Man, that is a whole lotta pausing on the bench. No wonder you're sore. Nice DL - pleasantly surprised makes me think you man handled that 565. You look a lot like a 600 pound puller to me.

I was very surprised at pulling that weight. I wasn't trying to hustle you yesterday buddy. I just had no idea I was that close.

I saw what your were doing. I'm not surprised.
600 or not when the opportunity arises you can bet I will be picking up the tab and it will not even be open for discussion.

Good stuff. I'm still amazed at the total volume you crank out in one session. I'll think twice before I complain on a "squat only" day

BL: It took me a while to get used to doing all 3 lifts in one workout. It is amazing what the body will do if you refuse to take no for an answer.
