Sunday 4/15/07
Squat
Warmed up and did 4 singles @ 95% of my projected max. All of them were strong. Last really heavy workout before the NC meet.
Bench
135 x 10 135 x 5 185 x 5 225 x 3 275 x 1 315 x 2 T/G 315 x 1 Paused 315 x 2 T/G 315 x 1 Paused 315 x 2 T/G 315 x 1 Paused 315 x 1 Paused Each work set got successively easier...kind of weird. Last heavy workout before NC meet...will back off some next week.
Deadlift
Warmed up and pulled 4 singles @ 95% of projeted max. All reps were strong and smooth. Last deadlift workout before the NC meet.

Saturday 4/21/07
I have been using this meet to experiment with peaking a bit. I intentionally overtrained deadlift leading into a 13 day break before the meet. I also finished up my heaviest lifting on squat and bench 2 weeks out this time. I did squat and bench today but considerably lighter than the last few weeks. I will also throw in a tricep workout in the middle of the coming week because my bench day always seems to go better when I do. This will break my tradition of never touching a weight the week before a meet.
Squat
135 x 10 135 x 5 225 x 5 315 x 5 405 x 1 455 x 4
Bench
135 x 10 135 x 5 185 x 5 225 x 3 275 x 1 275 + 40 lbs of chains x 3
A quick easy workout just to keep the feel of the weight. I hope to meet some of you this coming weekend.

I have gotten to the point where I can't train deads every week for very long. I have to stick to every other week on them or the weigth just starts to feel too heavy. I actually miss being able to dead every week. It has become my favorite exercise.

OOOWWWWWWWW!!!!!! Man, am I sore..............all over...........but it feels good!! This log has served it's purpose and has come to the end of it's short life. I competed in the NC State meet this past weekend and achieved the goals I had set for myself to acomplish at this meet. I also caught up with an old friend that I hadn't seen in a while and we enjoyed a small but outstanding meet. Quite a few records went down during the meet and quite a few burgers went down after the meet. Thank you Gene for a fun, stress free meet and for the post meet food. PS: If you are at a meet with Doug Parrish, do yourself a favor and introduce yourself. He is good people and even more supportive in person than he is on this forum. Many thanks to you for this weekend sir. BTW: GREAT LIFTING Doug. Anybody who totals 7X his bodyweight RAW deserves to be named Outstanding Lifter. Looking forward to next year.

I hear that 3speed guy did pretty well too. A "little" over that 1200 he was hoping to crack.
Great meet 3speed.

Thanks for the kind words! And to echo, yall, 3Speed is the KING of lifting up the lifters around him. He was able to spot stuff in my form immediately, and yes I am definitely going to work on some things.
3Speed left NOTHING on the platform, and by all rights was the outstanding lifter. If you ask him he'll tell you what he lifted, but I won't steal his thunder. Let's just say I was impressed.
I am currently searching for white out for my calendar.
GREAT to see you my friend! Outstanding lifting, GREAT visiting with you!
God Bless!

Thank you Chancey.
That 1200 comment was aimed - in good fun - towards Dopars comment about his algebra skills.

It was even MORE fun to see in person. I still kick myself for forgetting the vid cam, or at LEAST the still cam! 3Speed was the man, the myth, the legend, the masterpiece, the display, the alpha male, well you get the picture.
(My algebra skills....thanks..... I needed that reminder as much as I needed the 3 reds after my last deadlift attempt.......)
;')
GOd Bless!
