Strong work Chancey. Your grip will thank you for the static hold on the last set. ECHO! Man that was one excellent workout for a dude who was tired from shovelling snow! Awesome, Chancey! Don't forget the Icy Hot! God Bless!!

Thanks guys. It wasn't to long ago that I struggled to do this for one and could barely hold onto it. Something is working.

I bet it is! I reckon with that kind of grip strength you could palm a John Deere tractor!
God Bless.

Hope to see you there. You will see some guys in jacked up shirts. At the last meet in Manchester, one lifter benched 600 with a Metal Shirt. His second attempt was in the high 500s, which shot up faster than you can imagine. I spoke with him after the meet and he said it actually injured his elbow because the speed was so great it hyperextended a little. So far there's around 30 lifters signed up, so you should get to see quite a bit of equipped benching.

280x3x8 on bench day, still going light I see..... :') (I'm happy when I get 3 REPS with 280...)
Chancey, a little lean isn't bad, it keeps the weight centered better with the knees. It's the pronounced lean, where your backside is pointing out instead of down, that is a form issue. However, I'm ALWAYW in favor of deloading! The 365x3x3 looks really good, though!
God Bless.

Good call on calling it off. You only get two shoulders, need to take care of them. Hope you iced those suckers down!
Nice work with the 375!

Good job on the 375 man! I second Doug, never be afraid to back off at the first sign of something "wrong". Every time I ever ignored those warnings, I ended up taking an un wanted vacation.

02-22-2007 Deadlift
Convential Deadlift
8 x 135 5 x 225 3 x 315 2 x 405 1 x 460, 8 sets (held last rep for a 30 count by 1000s)
SLDLS (Off Floor, Pause at Bottom)
8 x 225 5 x 275 5 x 315
Barbell Shrugs
5 x 315 5 x 405 5 x 455 5 x 505, 2 sets
10 min 30 sec on the 8 heavy sets of DL. Had quite a bit of energy tonight but left some in the tank. My heavy sets on DL lately have me saying to myself “..man this is heavy. And I want 600?”.

I don't know what to say, except WOW, and nice work. Very strong. You're so far ahead of me that I would never think of offering advice. All I can do is read and admire.

That's some very nice deadlifting, Chancey! To do so well with the SLDLs after the regular DLs shows you've got some guts. I am basically warming up then doing one top set off the floor and one off a block. That's it. Maybe pulling 20 reps total at the most... and that's every other week. High volume is a tricky thing. It works well for many but for others it's the kiss of death... It seems like it is working well for you. Pulling 8 work sets then backing off with three SLDL sets isn't an easy thing! Good luck with your quest for 600 and keep up the great workouts!

Of course it's going to feel heavy when you are doing heavy deads with 30 sec on the 8 heavy sets of DL!!! Awesome work.

Thanks guys. That hold was a very "zenlike" moment. Tipped my head back, closed my eyes, just me and the weight, at 20 count I want to put it down but I just lock in, at this point it feels like metal to bone. My grip has progressed well. I think I could have done these sets without chalk.

02-23-2007 Bench Day 2
Bench Press (20” Grip)
12 x 135 12 x 225 12 x 245, 2 sets 10 x 245
Lt/high rep delt work (side & rear focus)
This 20” grip for me bring my thumbs just outside my chest and I keep my elbows in. It really blast my triceps and chest. 2 for the price of 1 and my shoulders feel fine. I am absolutely beat up from DLs. Traps are rock hard and my back is toast. I may consider not lifting the day after DLs for better recovery.
