10-6-17 Deadlift up to 365x3x5 - pulls felt very heavy today. Could be lack of calories. Started with sumo 1-2-3 plates for 5's and then 365x2 before switching to conventional.
Bench worked up to 285x5 raw then 325x5 black sling and 375/415x5 in the Titan Magnum. Had to pull double duty due to missing Thurs pull day. Shoulder is almost fully healed.

10-13-16 Squat up to 420x3 Bench up to 195x8x3 then when others got to the gym worked up to 315x1 then added Magnum at 365/405/425/455 singles.
Lots of accessory work afterwards. Took a week off. Needed it mentally/physically. Dec 2nd meet is getting close. Gonna start cutting back the volume on the main lifts to mostly singles and lots of high rep bodybuilding afterwards. Will probably start implementing more 20-30 min high rep bodybuilding workouts more days of the week to keep blood flowing as the weight gets heavier with less volume for recovery.

2-18-18 Haven't posted in a while. Still training but moving towards single ply lifting. Did hit a 550 squat easily in briefs and a 405 raw bench (5lb PR) a couple weeks ago. Been working in an F6 bench shirt trying to get it broke in. Still utilizing the Titan Magnum which seems to be helping a lot. Some highlights were 325x23 bench in the Magnum, 415x8 with a couple left in the tank in the Magnum. Had a rep session with 225 hitting 112 reps over 4 sets mixing in raw and various slingshots of differing strengths. Pulled triples making quarter/plate jumps up to 500x3 but hurt my back with the last set.
Some things I'm finding out now that I'm 42 is training a couple days per week is enough. My leverages in deadlift still suck (very very taxing on my back) so all pulling will be few and far between. Will be focusing more on the squat to raise my DL as pulls from the floor put my back in a bad position when trying to hit heavy reps. DL sessions will probably be focused more on pulling from the knee for reps and paused box squats at the point where I pull from.
The hardest transition has been learning the bench shirt. The shirt is extremely tight and it has been quite a chore breaking it in but it is getting there. I have a new found respect for those who compete in gear because IT IS NOT EASY! Time under tension is beyond what I ever thought but I am finding that it seems to keep me safer even at heavier weights.
While I still love raw lifting and see it as the truest display of strength in PL, I'm finding this transition is necessary if I'm to continue competing. I will always train raw to gain muscle and strength, but the bigger weights are gonna be in gear to keep things tighter and safer the majority of the time. That doesn't mean I won't get the itch from time to time and try and hit something big raw, but so far this has been a good move for me.
I'm finding 50-70% of my max has been EXCELLENT for building muscle and strength and keeping me healthy. Keeping the reps at 5 or preferably above has been awesome. I've been too long at 80% and up and it just took its toll on me the past two years. Change is always necessary as we get older. What worked 5 years ago does not work now. Recovery has become of utmost importance. It sucks walking into the gym beat up and not ready to put forth the best effort.
A word of advice to the younger guys; train smart. Listen to your body. Keep the weights lighter the majority of the time. It pays off!

I know this is a raw forum but some of you might still remember me. Competed at USPF Nationals on Sat. June 2nd in Huntington WV. First single ply meet. I use a Titan Spartan single ply(basic entry level suit). Still trying to get used to benching in a shirt so I did the meet raw bench. This meet was different for me. I hadn't trained for 2 weeks prior to meet day. Vacation and then got sick with a cold which I still had some sinus/chest congestion on meet day so I opened light and made jumps on how it all felt.
Squat went 507-562-601 all good Bench went 330-363 but missed 402. Hadn't really been raw benching anyway so didn't expect much. Deadlift went 507 and even in typing this I'm still ticked thinking about the miss I had at 551. It moved so easy and got right to the top and my left hand started to open up so I was focused on trying to hold on to it I couldn't get my hips thru and didn't complete it. Ran out of gas for the third attempt.
I must say training in gear is pretty interesting. It takes so much more technique and patience. I'm not sure yet if I'm really fond of it yet or not. I still may end up going back to raw if I can't figure out the bench shirt because its pointless to compete single ply if you can't use all the equipment. I personally don't like tight equipment like some do. I'm only getting around 40lbs out of the suit and 10lbs out of the shirt. It does help keep my joints a little tighter when the weight gets heavy but it doesn't do as much work as you might think, at least the way I use the gear.
We had a great team effort. Had a 23yr old 242'er go 622-463-606 in single ply gear. A 22yr old 242'er go 573-434-666 raw and break multiple jr national records. A 275'er single ply 28 yr old go 750-bombed in the bench at 560 and then pulled 677. My buddy Nate went push/pull at 413-628 at 59yr old raw.
It was a long day. Started at 9am and didn't get done with lifting until 745pm. Didn't hang around for awards but my teammates picked up my first place plaque in the masters division. Don't care about trophies just wanna get better like most of you!
Back to the trenches.....will get back to the raw stuff and see how it progresses.

I understand it wasn't what you wanted - never is - but you did well and it is a learning process.
Glad to see you're still around.
