Hey Blackstone, I was keeping a training log here back in 2010 when you were crushing some records. Like you I am hoping to get back into it routinely. Anyway, I know you are 52, and I was wondering what your powerlifting experience was prior to the last couple years? I'm curious to hear how you previously trained.

what does "spotter" mean in your training log? I have a spotter do a hand off. Otherwise I take it off the rack myself. Thanks for reading.

Got serious when I found out I was strong. Before I started training. Drank beer, chased women and drank Schnapps. In between worked as a Driver at a moving company since 1976. Great for the core.

I have made a decision. Though I have no home front support for it. I am out to not only set but crush any and all bench records in my class. My numbers will reach higher than the weight class above me at the 52 age bracket and beat the age bracket below me at my weight class.
I feel not only are these goals reachable but now that we can wear wrist wraps.
AGE 52 WEIGHT <142 BENCH WEIGHT 501 LBS.

It really is good to see you back at it. I know you will do well. I am now 59 and getting ready to move into next age bracket. I have bee able to bench more in my 50's than I did in my 40,s mostly because of being consistant and gaining knowledge on lifting correctly. You will be just fine . I need to set some records now before you hit 60.

LOL! Thanks for the side ways compliment. Good to hear from you again.
Sorry I have not been posting. Super busy at work. Still lifting though. I will try to post on bench day. Other days when I can.
Just this last Monday
335x5 350x3 360x3 365x3 2 sets. bent bar kept rolling in my hands. Made the third rep ruff.
Next week starts super bench session. Three weeks benching everyday. Was invited to a raw bench competition out here. They will pay my entry fee if I lift at there meet. I guess somebody knows who I was back in Chicago and the 100% RAW days. I'll try not to disappoint them. Should hit at least 400. That will seem weird only hitting 400. I use to open with 450.

Bent bars. Yep. Nothing like a rolling bar in your grip. The foofoo gym I'm stuck at out here, has nothing but well.... Foo foo equipment. The bars start to bend at 350. I recieved permission to bring my own bar. No bending on heavy days. Any way, started my super bench two weeks ago. Last week got through Monday then work exploded. Six days off of the gym. Re-started yesterday.
First week. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday,Friday 5 sets of 15 one minute between sets. 235, 200,170,150,140 (Tuesday I'll jump up 5 since I made all the lifts) Every set should be failure if you tried 16.
Wednesday 5 sets of 3 Last time I hit 365x3 so I'll try that again. 345,325,295,275 Again, one minute between sets.
For the accessorials work out. Target sets. Monday chest Tuesday legs Wednesday shoulders Thursday back Friday Biceps, triceps, wrist forearms

Every time I don't feel like working out. I just look at my two 100% Raw World Championship belts. I want my third. My favorite all time athlete won seven championships. That's my goal. I have three 100% Raw Championships. The other federations don't count. I don't just want 7 Championships. I want 7 belts!

I read some of my old work outs today before my work out. MAN! I was an animal back then. So. I think my mind set has changed. I upped my work out. Instead of what was planned I did the following.

Shoulders Reverse machine shoulder presses wide grip 90x10 145x8 165x6
Machine shoulder presses close grip 90x10 145x8 165x6
Reverse machine shoulder presses close grip 90x10 145x10 165x10
Machine shoulder presses wide grip 90x10 145x10 165x10

Bench five sets of three
I thought I would be a little fatigued after 3 days of burn outs. Just the opposite. I did pretty well today. When I hit this two weeks ago when I tryed to run through this 3 weeks program. What I did today then was 365 grinding 2 and 3. Quite different today. Feeling pretty good about this come back. Confidence is high.
135x3 225x3 315x3
365x3 smoked them. Still I thought fatigue will set in soon. I was planning on the next set 345. I decided 355.
355x3 smoked them. So I stayed 355x3 even better 355x3 crushed them. I felt like I had 6 in me. 370x3 3 was a grinder.
Remember. Only ONE minute rest between sets!
Triceps and biceps. I changed routine because I wanted to lift with my spotter. Give what you take. Now we are planning on lifting together. I will have a great spotter and best thing. He is bigger and at this point. Stronger. Exactly what I need. plus he has a great attitude for the gym. He there to lift. Not chase girls or try to impress anybody.

I am not surprised to see that you seem to be getting the bug back. You will be a animal again in no time. Hope to see you at some 100% Raw meets in the future.
