I used 2 inch pipe cut into 5 foot lengths for the main body. 1,1 ¼ inch, foot long pipe for the handles. I put the whole thing together with 4 - ½ inch carriage bolts. I drilled through both pipe and inserted the bolts using 3 nuts to hold the device togather and space the handle from the long bar. Run the bolt through the handle, then a nut to hole it in place, add another nut about 2-3 inches down from the first one. Add the Long bar, then the last bolt to lock it all together.
Parts Two, 5 foot sections of 2.25 inch pipe Two, 1 foot, 1.15 in pipe for the handles Four, 9 inch long, 1/2 inch carriage bolts – They need to be threaded to the top (Or at least within 2 inches of the top) Twelve, ½ nuts
The key is to get the holes drilled properly. If there off just a little, you may not be able to put the device together or it will be off balance making the whole thing very hard to carry.
I use nine a couple of time and it worked well enough, then I got the chance to purchase a welded one for $ 150 made with a solid pipe so I retired my home made ones.
I just use clamps to lock the weights in place.

looks good but i saw homemade farmers where you stand inside a frame that may weigh around 400-500 empty. Thoughts on those? I may give em a try but around 300-400 empty depending if find the steel. What type handle would you think be best?

Actually that is a different lift all together, LoL the frame carry. I love that one also. I would say 1 or 1 ¼ in. pipe would work great. Where I train on Sundays thay have one I can snap some pictures if you like.
