Amidst the holiday season, do you maintain your diet through the holidays or do you cheat? Especially over Thanksgiving, I found it difficult to "stay on track"... What methods do you use to overcome those holiday pounds?

I eat, and eat and eat, I put on a good 5 to 10 lbs every winter because of the holiday's but come Feb or March when it warms up a little, I start running every couple days for about 10 - 15 miles per week, of course I have to work up to that, but yeah for the most part I watch what I eat, and it is usually pretty healthy, (except all those cookies) I just tend to eat more in the winter.

LOL @ "except all those cookies"! That's awesome that you run 10 - 15 miles a week.. personally I despise running lol!

yeah i did too, but the wife really wanted to start so we just would run 5min and walk 2 then increased our running to 10 min then break for 2min until we could run for a full 30 or more minutes and we just take it slow, no point in injuring yourself, anyhow I learned to really like it, well in the summer months anyhow but yeah it really takes the extra wt off at least for me.......

just plan big workouts the day after you know you're going to binge. plus, since huge meals like thanksgiving and christmas will boost leptin levels, if you stay on your diet pretty solidly except for those days, you should be able to keep your weight fairly stable and, depending whether you're eating a surplus or deficit, maybe gain some muscle or still lose a little fat.

well, on nice days meaning not windy or to cold we'll go for a short run, (like 2 miles) just to stay loose, but that could mean a couple times one week and then nothing for a few weeks, it's not worth slipping on the ice and getting hurt, I find that like most things running is mostly a mental game, I'm not saying I can run a marathon but a mile or 3 is really not hard. she actually wants to go today because it's suppose to be in the upper 40's hmmm don't want to but I probably will haha.... here is a good site to get anyone started........http://www.halhigdon.com
