I have received several questions about the use of this product. DO NOT USE IT IF YOU PLAN TO COMPETE IN A DRUG TESTED MEET!
It contains 1,3-Dimethylamylamine which is a geranium extract also known as methylhexaneamine. Methylhexaneamine has been added to the WADA banned list for 2010.
Additional note: Methylhexaneamine is a stimulant that can cause you to test positive for amphetamines if you are required to take a regular drug test for employment.

After reading this I did a quick search on bodybuilding.com for supplements containing this ingredient (listed as either 1,3-Dimethylamylamine, methylhexaneamine, or geranium extract). Most of these are either pre-workout supplements or weight loss supplements. This is what I came up with after only a quick 15 minute search (company - product):
All The Whey - Therma Lean Athletic Edge Nutrition - PreSurge Unleashed Axis Labs - Adipo-X V2.0 Beast Sports Nutrition - AmphetaLean Extreme BPI Sports - 1.M.R. Cellucor - M5 Extreme Core Nutritionals - Core ZAP Dorian Yates Nutrition - NoxPump ErgoGenix - ErgoBurn EST - ThermaPhoria Futurebiotics - StressAssist Genera Supplements - Adrenaline LG Sciences - E-911 LG Sciences - Anadraulic Pump LG Sciences - Speed V2 LiveLong Nutrition - Hordenine MAN - Swagger Muscle Gauge Nutrition - Trim Down Nature's Way - Umcka ColdCare Neogenix - Velocity XT Neogenix - CryoShock NuCare - PhenolFire Nutrabolics - Hemorush Nutrabolics - Hemodrene Nutrex - HEMO-RAGE Black Nutrex - Lipo 6 Black Hers PharmaFreak Technologies - Ripped Freak PrimaForce - 1,3-Dimethylamylamine S.A.N. - Launch S.A.N. - Tight! Xtreme SciVation - Quake 10.0 Thermogum - Thermogum USPLabs - Jack3d USPLabs - OxyELITE Pro Youth Addict - Intense Youth Addict - Torch'd
I also noticed there are a lot of lotions with this ingredient. Is it possible to fail a test if it is applied topically as well (this is more for people who tan as these were tanning lotions)?
Also, this is just one website that I checked to see what I could come up with. I think I am going to have to actually carry the WADA list with me when I shop now just to be safe.
With further research on the internet I have found this is also labeled as DMAA, so that is another way to look for it listed on the label.

Eeek. Got a free sample of this from Bodybuilding.com. I'm not sure if that would be enough to trigger a test, but when would it clear my system?

Methylhexaneamine is allowed for out of competition use. I have not found a definitive answer on the question of a detection window. It is similar to amphetamines which usually clear within 4-6 days. However, ephedrine hcl is an amphetamine and is usually detectable for up to 10 days. So, I basically said all of that to say I don't know - use at your own risk.

It contains 1,3-Dimethylamylamine which is a geranium extract also known as methylhexaneamine. Methylhexaneamine has been added to the WADA banned list for 2010. How are we supposed to know what supps we can take? Looking at the WADA list, it only has this ingredient listed as "methylhexaneamine (dimethylpentylamine)" When I conducted a search I had to search for 1,3-Dimethylamylamine (that 3speed gave), which is a different spelling than dimethylpentylamine. Methylhexaneamine is listed on some supps, so you can search for this ingredient. Dimethylpentylamine (version on the WADA list) is not the spelling used on supps, so you cannot search for this. 1,3-Dimethylamylamine (which 3speed gave us) is listed on supps, so you can search for it. Also, some of the supps list this as geranium extract, which we would not have known is the same thing if 3speed had not told us. How can we effectively follow the Wada list if it is not all inclusive with how the ingredients can be listed? Are there any other banned substances that have versions that are not listed on the WADA list? We can look at the list when thinking about trying a supplement, but most of us are not chemistry majors to know that these substances could be called something else. Am I the only one frustrated by this?

Add me to the frustrated list!!
When this really gets to be ridiculous is when a supplement manufacturer will combine 2, 3 or more ingredients and simply give the combination a proprietary name and you have no way of knowing what is in the mix. And then there are the cases where supps contain ingredients that aren't even listed on the label.
I get quite a few messages asking if a supplement is safe to use. It is because of crap like this that I cannot and will not tell anyone that a particular supplement is OK to use. I can generally tell you if you absolutely cannot use a supp, but because of deceptive labelling I cannot clear a supp.
