I wondered if anyone, man or woman, thought the trophies for females should be different from those for the males. Currently, no PL woman trophy top is available through suppliers. Are there that few women in powerlifting that it isn't worth making a trophy for specifically for them? People seem to respect the effort put into the sport by women, but, in my experience, the women remain unimpressed by the men's trophies that are the result of the effort. Any thoughts?
I tend to like plaques more, but I see what you mean...especially with mounts and sculptures. I would assume this is a market issue, since there are no shortage of female figurines for cheerleading trophies etc. If the ladies won't go for that traditional perky girl holding up a wreath, you may be in trouble.
In my opinion plaques are a good way to go. Those sculptures with lifters sitting/standing/eating skulls are cool and all but chip away like crazy. I brought mine back from nationals like I was carrying two warheads. Again, I like the look, but not the fragility. (And this doesn't solve the sex issue)
I used sculpted Eagles from Elizabeth City Trophy that were attached to a base for the Police Nationals and Ohio State meet. One set was bronzed, the other red, white and blue. (They are pictured if you click the link to Elizabeth City on the home page, go to sculptures and then section 4) These things seemed to be a hit, then again this was a police, fire military event. A large majority of lifters in the open bracket complimented the awards as a fresh change as well.
Basically you can purchase dual sex awards. Not every trophy must have a dude on it, nor medal or sculpture. I doubt there is any market for the more feminine types, such as a girl squatting two pails of flower bouquets...but I think most women enjoy getting the hardcore stuff as much as us. (Like axes, swords, etc.) I mean, these are power girls. (If I knew how to insert a winking smiley face I would have there).

I've never seen the axes and swords trophies; kinda reminds me of my martial arts background. I like the originality of hefting to pails of flower bouquets, but that might be a bit hard to mold in plastic. My personal preference is the readily available lady-with-wings-looking-like greek-goddess thing, but then the trophy is generic and people don't recognize what the trophy is for since "wing-wearing" is not a big sport. And I do want to be a good sport about this; I'm just curious what other lifters think. I imagine it would be very expensive to get a female lifter mold created for female trophies.
I found the winky smiley face by hitting "modify" after the post and there is a whole line of faces to choose from .

Thats so cool that your wife lifts weights too! I wonder why her tournament suppliers can find female lifter trophies and they're not available here in Virginia where there is a lot of powerlifting. Hmmmm. Well, I don't know. I guess nobody buying trophies here has looked for them. Very helpful information, though. Take a karma point from me as my thank you!
