3spd speaketh truth! But darn if it isn't hard to follow even the best advice sometimes! Nice work on the bench...I can't believe you had speed work in you after the heavy singles...that usually fries my triceps.

Nice benching. Why do you say you are using a "strange" ME bench routine? Looks good to me.

"Leaving back alone for the next 3 weeks so I can get that 600 DL"
I anxiously await that post!
Nice benching little buddy! You are probably back biting the heels of that 400!
God Bless!

Rick, I say it's strange because the ME day and speed day are in the same workout. Here is were I got the idea tsampa.org/training/routines/20051121/. I may deviate the 2nd bench day in the future.

Jul 7th in Milton VT is advertising full power now. You know I will be there. Even if it means lifting in my hometown a month later. I'm smiling again.

03-25-2007 Deadlift
5 x 135 5 x 225 3 x 315 2 x 405 1 x 495 1 x 545 0 x 575 0 x 575
My first attempt at 575 I had it sitting at mid thigh and I just couldn’t pull it back. If I could of only thrown my hips forward. Second attempt got it above the knees and hit a wall. If there is any positive was the 545 I ripped up pretty convincingly, actually better than the 495 and the 575 first attempt I got to mid thigh fairly quick. I may need to save 600 for my July 7th meet. Time to consult.

Either way, that's going to happen before long. The numbers don't lie, and a strong 545 + fully rested + meet day adrenaline = what should be a pretty convincing 600. You're right on the edge of getting it and I can't WAIT to see that 600 post!! Nice work.

Word. Very attempt on the edge...I'll seconds what big lifter said...rest+adrenaline has got to be good for that extra 10 percent or so!

Echo x 2. Chancey you are a brutal beast, and I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be capable of the 600, EASILY by July. HOWEVER, for a confidence booster, why NOT go for 575 at the upcoming meet and save the 600? Use the upcoming meet as a sounding board maybe?
Either way, 545 sounds like a good opener. 575 sounds like meet weight. 600 sounds like you have it by the back leg.
God Bless!

Thanks guys. I'm going to take this in stride. The important thing for me lately is I feel healthy & strong and that's a big plus. Even at failure that was an incredible workout. Yeah, I'm disappointed because It was soooo close. Remember I just starting pulling on a regular basis for the first time in my life last October. I feel I still have plenty of room for improvement but the quick feel good gains are over now it comes at a price - sweat & hard work.

04-29-2007 Bench Day 2
Incline Bench Press
20 x 45 12 x 135 5 x 185 2 x 225 5 x 260 5 sets
JM Presses
20 x 45 12 x 75 6 x 105 10 x 125, 3 sets
This is my last workout until next week. I need to refresh my mind and body. Then it's 8 weeks of training for my July 7th meet. So until then I'll be getting my walk on and plotting my next 8 weeks of training.
You may be right Doug. I may need to set my eyes on a DL goal for that meet of 575. Not sure about opening up with 545 though. I like 535 a little better.

All you have left to do is GIT R DONE!
535, 545, doesn't matter. Both of them are mere formalities. They'll get you in the meet. I'd say uncork the 575 on your second attempt then plan from there. You'll be fresh and pumped, so who knows? The 600 may become your next victim....
God Bless!

Hey Chancey... I see you are doing the July 7th meet... Did you happen to see that there is an AAU INTERNATIONAL RAW POWERLIFTING CHAMPIONSHIPS AUGUST 16, 2008 @ SHERATON BURLINGTON HOTEL AND CONFERENCE CENTER Perhaps Bret will make this a 100% Raw meet too. Your workouts are looking really good.. July 7th should be an easy 600 pull for you!! Perhaps I will see you July 7th... if not, I think if that AAU meets goes 100 % Raw too, I can definitely make that meet in August... that Sheraton was good luck for my first one competition...

Correct on the July 7th. Once that went from a push/pull to full power I was on board. I'm dying to do a full meet. As far as the Aug 16th AAU meet I would consider it but I think something is going to happen in my town around that time frame or later. I mean, there's no way I can't compete in my own town. And 3 meets in 3 months is a bit much. You had as awesome a first meet as anyone could hope for. I am pretty sure the venue will have little to do with how well you perform. Hope to cross paths soon.

I've decided to put this log to sleep. This 600 DL log was something to keep me going while I had no meets planned. I'd hoped to reach this goal by now. I have no doubt that if I continue my training I will eventually get it. I may or may not start another log but will no doubt be around. Thank you all for your support.

I would hate to leave this log hanging on a sour note. Mission accomplished on the DL on Jul 7th 2007 at the Milton, VT meet. See chanceys 8 week cycle for Milton for specifics.
