I don't post my training log here anymore, but I thought I'd just drop this video in of a squat from my current meet prep. About 4 weeks out currently, bw is 196. https://www.instagram.com/p/BjipIW3BtTp

USPA Stars and Stripes Meet (Mauldin SC, June 30 2018)
Results:
Exceptionally well run meet, but venue was awful to the point where even spectators were sweating from the heat (it was essentially outdoors, as the spectating, lifting and warmup area were all packed in together with no AC, and only a few large overhead doors for ventilation). Little room for lifters to warmup and even less to move around as the spectators and lifters were jam-packed into a small oblong area for all things.
Was gassed by the time it was my turn to squat, even after slow and conservative warmups....
SQ- 1: 480 2: 507 3: miss (512)
BN- 1: miss (319, technical issues) 2: 319 3: 325
DL: 1: 525 2: 551 3: 567
Total: 1400 (1399.9)
This meet was not my finest hour from vantage point of numbers, but given the sub-saharan Africa heat, it could have been flat-out ugly so I'm not disappointed.
Highlites:
1) Squat opener flew up as it should and although second attempt stuck for a moment near the top, it was never in doubt. However, looking at film of that second attempt, my setup appeared to be a bit rushed, hands in tighter to shoulders than normal, and a flat out dive-bomb of a descent. I chalk this up to 70% heat exhaustion, 30% nervous energy. Third attempt was the only attempt of the day that I flat-out missed on any of the lifts, and I simply didn't have it in me.
2) Bench opener was missed due to grip width being too narrow, no hand-out and possibly tightness issues as well, all of which were corrected for second attempt which flew up. Worth noting that I didn't actually miss the 1st attempt, but just got two reds for butt coming up. Was still wary of all issues going into 3rd attempt so went with a conservative bump to 325 and that flew up as well. Probably had 335 in me.
3) Felt strangely re-energized going into DL, but took conservative 2nd and 3rds to be safe. Opener shot up, second attempt was similar and third was not as quick but probably left 10-15lbs on the table there.
Need to find a way to hit that 1500lb total mark, been lingering in the 1400-1430 range for too long now. It's just not worth training as hard as I do to keep producing the same results at meets.
That said, all my attempts and total were M1 90kg South Carolina state records. They'd have been USPA M1 90kg National records had the meet been tested, but it wasn't. So again, not a perfect outcome, but enough to get me qualified for worlds in Vegas in Nov.
Now to find a coach.....
