I have been out of powerlifting for a number of years; however, the strict curl rules have not changed for the better of the sport. I remember how "strict" the rules were when I had competed. One meet in particular was the 1994 WPA/APA world record breakers meet, located in Fitchburg, Mass. The competitors were fierce but, it was very fair. All lifters had to keep their back, shoulders and head firmly on a wall. I lifted 135lbs for a 132lb weight class open record. Looking back, the meet was exciting and enjoyable. I hope the integrity and future of the “strict” curl is not compromised.

I agree with this. I was attracted to this fed because of the strict rules on the bench, squat and curl. Full rom with proper pausing and control of the weights. If the curl was a cheat curl I wouldnt waste time training for it as it would loose all integrity in my eyes.

I’ve actually participated in several strict cur events and. IMHO it’s the easiest lift to judge and the hardest one to try and cheat. A lot of people find out quickly that they can’t do as much as the think the can.
