Not many strict curl competitions up in Canada.
Although many federations in the US have this competition. I think the more strength events the better. Makes for more fun.
Are there many note worthy strict curl lifters out there that come to mind. Most have lifters come to mind when they think of bench, deadlifts, etc.
How about in the strict curl?
I know in terms of all time greats Doug Hepburn has to rank up there. Although he was the Olympic weightlifting WOrld Champion, and held records in bench press and squats, his strict curl was one of his favorite lifts. He held numerous strict curl records (this is the 50's).
Is there World Championships with the strict curl event?

I don't have too many names of curlers in my head. I have heard of someone strict curling 230 lbs which is pretty insane. Sometimes it is hard to know if it is up against a wall or not, makes a big difference. There is a youtube video of Magnus Samuelson curling 300x4 I believe, not super strict but pretty good, that is insane. I have heard of Kaz doing 315 and Arnold getting 275 with some swing.
If you have any numbers let me know, I am always curious as to what the human body can do.

255 pounds by Doug Hepburn in the 50's.
That was not up against the wall, but knees locked, and arms straight. That is pretty impressive. He was not juiced either.
Magnus doing 300 pounds is just insane. NOt super strict even is still insane.

My training partner Leo Monroe (WNPF) has strict curled 245 in competition at 231 lbs BWT. He can bench a little too.

FirefighterTom - was that curl up against the wall or standing straight? Either way it is super impressive but up against the wall is truly insane. Tim

BTW Magnus was actually curling 308x4 in his"World's Strongest Arms"DVD;his 595x2 bench didn't really serve to foster a negative opinion'bout his strength either.hehe
